NEWS FLASH: Volunteers needed!

Volunteer West is currently seeking volunteers to support our volunteer matching service.

The role of the Volunteer Referral Officer is an integral part of services provided by Volunteer West and has been created to support referral and matching services offered to individuals wishing to engage in voluntary activity. Hours are flexible and training will be provided.

Do you have a few hours a week to give? If so, here are just some of the volunteer opportunities available:

Could you mentor a young person?
Make a difference to a young person by becoming their mentor. You provide someone for the young person to trust, talk to and have fun with.

Could you help welcome new Australians?
Welcome migrants and refugees to Australia by helping them settle into our community.

Can you plan a fun weekend?
Organise a day out for a child with a disability, helping them have fun, while giving their families a respite break.

Do you love op-shops?
Op-shops across the western suburbs of Melbourne are looking for volunteers to sort goods, stack shelves and serve customers.

If you don’t have the time to volunteer every week – you can still get involved! Here are some short term volunteer opportunities:

Do you want to help the environment?
Help protect the creeks, rivers and bushland reserves in and around the western region of Melbourne

Are you good in an emergency?
Whenever there is a natural disaster, bushfire or major accident volunteers are there to help – there are a range of volunteer emergency roles available.

Could you give a few hours?
Different opportunities come up every month – for example: you can help the Salvos Red Shield Appeal, join in National Tree Day, host a morning tea to raise money for cancer research or collect Christmas toys and books
